Spring has arrived, and that can only mean one thing at Community Research – time to renew our Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification – the UK government-backed certification that proves we can fend off cyber villains.

While it might not seem like a huge achievement to all the tech experts and IT managers out there, we are immensely proud of our processes as a micro business and the fact that the systems and policies set up over 6 years ago have continued to evolve and meet the requirements. Let’s be honest – as a micro business our IT team is a one-woman band and it is not her full-time job – so inviting in a certified auditor to have a poke around our systems and devices is always somewhat nerve racking. It’s a bit like letting someone root around your kitchen cupboards – whilst you are pretty certain they are all in order you perhaps would not bet your life that there isn’t something at the back past its use by date and going slightly off!

But we are clean – the cupboards are sparkling! Our data is safe, our security is verified, and we have our shiny new certificate!
